Lettuce Heads

Cold Springs Organics grows full-head lettuce varieties — butterhead, romaine, and loose-leaf heads depending on the season. Crisp, mild, and fresh, head lettuce stores better than pre-cut mix and holds up to heartier dressings.

  • Keep the head whole and refrigerate in the crisper drawer, loosely wrapped.
  • It keeps for up to a week.
  • Once leaves are separated, use within a few days.

Separate leaves from the core, discard any damaged outer leaves, and rinse in cold water. For romaine, halve or quarter lengthwise; for butterhead, tear leaves gently.

  • Caesar salad — romaine leaves with creamy dressing, croutons, and parmesan.
  • Grilled romaine — halve heads, brush with oil, and grill cut-side down 2–3 minutes.
  • Lettuce wraps — use large leaves as a wrapper for stir-fry or grain fillings.

Wedge salad — quarter a head, drizzle with blue cheese or ranch dressing, top with diced tomato, red onion, and a crack of black pepper.
