Ground Cherries
What It Is

Sweet, fruity, and slightly floral, they’re unlike anything else in the box and beloved by those who discover them.

Section titled “How to Store It”- Ground cherries keep exceptionally well in their husks at room temperature for several weeks.
- Husked ground cherries should be refrigerated and used within a week.
How to Prep It
Section titled “How to Prep It”Peel back and remove the papery husk — it’s not edible. Rinse the small fruits inside. No other prep required. They can be eaten whole.
How to Cook It
Section titled “How to Cook It”- Raw snack — pop them straight from the husk.
- Jam or preserves — simmer with sugar and lemon for a golden jam that tastes like pineapple-vanilla.
- Salsa — chop with jalapeño, cilantro, and lime as you would a tomatillo salsa.
- Baked — fold into muffins, crisps, or tarts in place of blueberries.
Quick Meal Idea
Section titled “Quick Meal Idea”Ground cherry salsa verde — roughly chop husked ground cherries with jalapeño, cilantro, onion, and lime juice; serve with chips or spooned over grilled chicken or fish.
